Splint boots are used to protect the horses lower leg from injury during competition, training or pleasure riding . They will help protect tendons and splint bones which are quite fragile. Splint boots
can be made of a number of materials such as leather, neoprene or other synthetic materials. Some are lined with fleece or sheepskin and may be lined with gel or foam for added protection. Some have straps with buckles and other attach with Velcro. If you use splint boots with straps that have buckles be sure that they buckle on the outside of the leg. Straps whether they buckle or are attached with Velcro should be snug but not so tight that they damage tendons.
