Bean Shooter -- A Horses way of Going

by Jordan Manfredi

This term refers to a horse that throws its front feet violently forward at the trot and exhibits little flexion. The hoof will appear to "land" about 12" above the ground. This is sometimes seen on gaited horses that have been trained incorrectly or possibly shod poorly. This is sometimes also refured to as Dwelling. It is a very undesirable way of going for any horse.
